Is Your Organization Fueling Breast Cancer Awareness?

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Rally to support the fight against this terrible disease by spreading awareness in your community. Whether your organization sponsors a Race for the Cure, a charity fundraiser, or another type of awareness campaign, there’s a lot you can do to help fight the good fight.

Cancer doesn’t just affect the life of the person afflicted; a diagnosis can touch the lives of loved ones, too. And we’re not as far removed from the problem as we may think. A staggering 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, so it’s likely a member of our family has been directly affected by this disease.
Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most highly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States, equaling roughly 30% of all newly diagnosed cancers.

Though women are exponentially more likely to develop breast cancer, it’s not exclusively a female problem. Men are expected to be diagnosed with 2,350 cases of invasive breast cancer this year.

The bright side, though, is that through advanced research, early detection from screening, and awareness campaigns, mortalities from breast cancer diagnoses have continued to drop year over year.

Do your part to help the cause. By distributing pink products, you and your organization can help raise breast cancer awareness this October.

Spread the word on prevention and treatment of this disease, schedule a mammogram for yourself or encourage a loved one to do so. Partner with a charity, or start a fundraiser. By taking part in this national awareness campaign, you could help save a life!
